BEIJING, July 12 (Xinhua) -- China has constructed 12 helicopter product platforms covering more than 60 models, chief designer Deng Jinghui of the Helicopter Research and Development Institute under the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) said at the launching ceremony of a helicopter design contest in Beijing on Friday.
The country has the ability to research and develop the third and fourth generation helicopters, said Deng.
China has been conducting research on aircraft with high speed, long air range, high reliability and good maintenance performance, Deng said.
Chinese professors and students, employees of enterprises and public institutions, and aeronautics professionals and amateurs will be invited to take part in the helicopter design contest.
