TEHRAN, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Iran suffered a dramatic defeat to Brazil 25-20, 25-23, 24-26, 20-25, 15-10 in a Pool B match at the 2019 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) finals in Chicago on Friday.
Iran, ranking second in the preliminary round, missed a semifinal spot after stunned by Poland 3-1 in their first match in the finals and beaten by Brazil.
Milad Ebadipour had 22 points for Iran, while Ricardo Lucarelli Souza led Brazil with 16 points.
In the other match-up on Friday, hosts United States fended off Russia 25-21, 25-17, 25-20.
The semifinals will see Poland clash with Russia and the United States face off Brazil on Saturday.
