NEW DELHI, July 15 (Xinhua) -- As many as 11 persons, including three women, three children and five men, were killed in a road mishap in India's western state of Gujarat on Monday, local media reports said.
According to the reports, the mishap occurred in Gujarat's Kutch district when a speeding truck hit an overcrowded auto rickshaw and a motor cycle while trying to overtake them on a narrow road.
The victims were daily-wage laborers from the central state of Madhya Pradesh, who had come here for livelihood. They were returning to Bhuj district after a temple visit.
Confirming the number of deaths, a local cop was quoted as saying that the driver of the truck fled after the accident.
The police have seized the truck.
