China's transport activities remain active in June

BEIJING, July 20 (Xinhua) -- China's transport activities remained active in June as economic growth steadies, industrial data showed.

The index evaluating the country's passenger and cargo transport volume by different transportation means grew 4.7 percent over a year ago in June, according to the China Academy of Transportation Sciences.

The June transport activities expanded about 2.6 percentage points slower than May, as the month reported fast growth of passenger transport due to holiday factors.

Cargo freight expanded 5 percent year on year last month, the third straight month of growth.

China's railway passenger trips and cargo freight in June went up 9.6 percent and 8.7 percent respectively over a year earlier, data from the China State Railway Group Co. Ltd. showed.
