DHAKA, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Nearly eight hours after a power outage paralyzed the Bangladesh's main airport, authorities got its electricity back Sunday afternoon.

Power supply to the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in capital Dhaka was disrupted on Sunday morning following a drive against illegal connections by the city's power supply authorities at a nearby slum.

Power supply to the airport was restored at 3:15 p.m. local time.

Aviation Security Director Wing Commander Obeidur Rahman told local media journalists that no international flight has been affected due to the power outage as they managed to keep scanner, immigration computers and luggage belt functional by the generators.

But passengers allegedly felt the pinch of power outage with water scarcity, inadequate lights and air conditioning inside the domestic and international terminals.
