RAMALLAH, July 29 (Xinhua) -- A senior official in Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah Party unveiled on Monday that security coordination between the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Israel reached its lowest level.
Majed al-Fitiany, secretary general of Fatah Revolutionary Council, told the official Palestinian radio station Voice of Palestine that the PA government has already stated a series of measures to gradually disengage with Israel.
"Security contacts with Israel are currently limited to some issues and daily affairs the Palestinian people need to be coordinated," he said, adding "it is useless to keep in contact with a state that is fully backed by the United States."
The Palestinian official accused the U.S. administration for being "partner with Israel in occupying the Palestinian territories."
However, al-Fitiany said that the Palestinian government "is bearing in considerations the national interests of the Palestinian people and their need to keep sticking to their lands."
He unveiled that the PA government "is putting plans and programs aiming at halting Israel from controlling the resources and the future of the Palestinians and not to surrender to the measures of the occupation and the settlers."
Asked about the economic ties with Israel, the senior Fatah official said that there are efforts which are exerted to end this relationship either by stopping the medical transfers to Israeli hospitals or searching for new economic alternatives.
"We are seeking to open new relationship of economic and medical cooperation with countries like Jordan and Iraq, mainly in the field of fuel and energy," said al-Fitiany.
He considered that economic boycott with Israel is an important address at this stage for the Palestinians through dispensing Israeli goods with a national or foreign alternative.
