DHAKA, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's total services export income in immediate past 2018-19 (July 2018-June 2019) fiscal year surged 46.06 percent year-on-year to 6.34 billion U.S. dollars, an official said on Thursday.
The official from Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) told Xinhua that Bangladesh earned a total of 6,338.45 million U.S. dollars from exports in the last fiscal year, compared to 4,339.70 million U.S. dollars in the same period a year earlier.
Citing the EPB data, the official who did not like to be named said that Bangladesh exported transport services worth of 662.76 million U.S. dollars in the last fiscal, up 12.48 percent against the exports of services worth of 589.20 million U.S. dollars in the previous 2017-18 fiscal year.
Among other top sectors of services export, telecommunication and information services had an impressive performance in 2018-19 fiscal when the sector earned 549.05 million U.S. dollars against 538 million U.S. dollars of the previous 2017-18 fiscal year.
According to the official, Bangladesh's total services export income in June, the final month of the last fiscal year, surged 90.99 percent year-on-year to 919.98 million U.S. dollars.
Bangladesh set its services export target in 2018-19 fiscal year at about 5 billion U.S. dollars.
