WELLINGTON, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced on Friday that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will visit New Zealand from Aug. 5 to Aug. 6.
New Zealand has supported NATO-led efforts to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan since 2001, said a statement.
In June, New Zealand refocused deployment to reduce personnel on the ground and pursue new positions to enhance the involvement of women in peace negotiations and post-conflict processes, it said.
Stoltenberg is visiting New Zealand for the first time in his role as NATO secretary general. He previously visited as Norwegian prime minister.
