YANGON, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar has planned to hold Cloud and AI (Artificial Intelligence) contest nationwide for the first time on Sept. 7 this year, according to a press conference held on Friday.
Supported by Huawei Myanmar, the Cloud and AI contest will be jointly organized by Myanmar Rectors' Committee, Myanmar Computer Federation (MCF) and the Research and Innovation Department under the Ministry of Education.
The contest aims to nurture Myanmar youths, to provide talents for incoming technology wave as well as to bridge Myanmar to AI world, the press conference said.
"In the future, we notice that AI will be part of our life and that is why we need to understand AI ability and capacity as well as to apply AI to our country. We are happy to participate in organizing such contest," said Zaw Wai Soe, chairman of Myanmar Rectors' Committee.
The contest allows Myanmar students from universities across the country to submit projects covering agricultural, education, healthcare and other business areas.
So far, 83 teams have joined the contest and top 12 submitted projects will be announced on Aug. 30.
Seven experts from organizing teams will act as referees for the contest and projects will be reviewed in accordance with AI core capability, innovativeness, business value and application design and development.
