NEW YORK, August 4 (Xinhua) -- A 5.1-magnitude earthquake jolted 27 km W of Ashkasham, Afghanistan at 1904 GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 229.5 km, was initially determined to be at 36.6976 degrees north latitude and 71.2245 degrees east longitude.
