This is the first time that Shanghai Disneyland has closed due to weather conditions since its opening in June 2016.
SHANGHAI, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Disney Resort reopened on Sunday morning after it was closed on Saturday due to a powerful typhoon.
The Shanghai Disney Resort, including Shanghai Disneyland, was closed on Saturday for safety reasons as Typhoon Lekima swept the city. It is the first time that Shanghai Disneyland has closed due to weather conditions since its opening in June 2016.
The resort was reopened at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone, more than 500 staff in the resort and its surrounding areas stood by to cope with various emergencies caused by the typhoon.
People who have booked tickets for Shanghai Disneyland on Saturday or Sunday can visit the park on any other day within the next six months or obtain a refund by contacting the original purchase channels, according to the resort.
