PYONGYANG, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un has issued an order to promote the military rank of 103 scientists for their contributions to national defense research, the official Korean Central News Agency reported on Tuesday.
The report said these scientists were promoted on Monday because of "their great contributions to bolstering up military capabilities for self-defense."
Kim said in the order that the scientists worked to develop powerful weapon systems, key to defending the Party, the revolution, the country and the people, KCNA reported.
Kim also highly praised the scientists "for providing an epoch-making turning point" in bolstering up the country's military capabilities for self-defense and successfully implementing the Party's strategic plan to solve highly difficult technological problems, the report said.
