TEHRAN, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Tuesday urged for resistance against "plots" to split Yemen, official IRNA news agency reported.
Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with a visiting delegation from Yemen's Houthi movement here in the capital Tehran.
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, who have committed "grave crimes" in Yemen, are seeking to"disintegrate Yemen," he said.
The Iranian leader urged to withstand the "scheme" to split Yemen, adding that in the face of resistance, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi would fail to carry out their plots.
In the meantime, the Yemeni political groups should adhere to dialogue and unity, to save their country and its integrity, he stressed.
Khamenei hailed what he called "successful defense of the Yemenis against the Saudi-led assault," and said that the victory awaits the oppressed people of Yemen.
The Iranian leader also criticized the West's "indifference towards the crimes" being committed in Yemen, saying that the developments unfolding in the Arab country have exposed the true nature of those who claim to be advocates of human rights in the United States and in the West, according to Press TV.
Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab military coalition against Iran-allied Houthis in Yemen for more than four years in support of the exiled Yemeni government of Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
