GHAZNI, Afghanistan, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Fighting aircraft launched a spate of airstrikes, killing nine militants loyal to the Taliban group, in the eastern Ghazni province on Thursday night, provincial government said in a statement released here Friday.
The air attacks targeted Taliban militants' hideouts in the restive Gilan and Giru districts of the province, late on Thursday night, leaving at least nine insurgents dead and several others wounded, the statement added.
According to the statement, the sorties conducted by the NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) mission in Afghanistan, but the alliance has yet to issue a statement.
No civilians and security personnel had been hurt during the air raids, the statement went on to say.
Taliban militants fighting the government forces in parts of the relatively troubled province have not commented on the subject.
