LHASA, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- The General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army (PLAGH) said Friday that it will set up 45 stations of remote medical services in public hospitals in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region in five years.
PLAGH and the regional government reached a framework agreement on health and poverty alleviation in Lhasa, capital of Tibet on Friday.
PLAGH will provide free telemedicine services for Tibetan hospitals, according to the agreement.
Ren Guoquan, president of Beijing-based PLAGH said PLAGH would help 45 medical and health institutions above the county level in Tibet build biosafety level 2 laboratories, improve local hospitals' capability of infectious disease treatment, provide free training for 100 professionals from Tibet every year.
The two sides will enhance cooperation in epidemiological surveys and disease analysis and research of infectious diseases, endemic diseases and occupational diseases.
In accordance with the agreement, PLAGH will join hands with Tibet to build infectious disease centers and telemedicine networks, cultivate talents and conduct scientific research, and share big data in the next five years.
To better understand the distribution of diseases and medical and healthcare services in Tibet, 35 experts from PLAGH had conducted surveys and given free medical treatment to impoverished residents in Lhasa, Nyingchi, Xigaze, and Qamdo.
