CHONGQING, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- China has provided training for about 2.08 million poverty relief cadres working in poverty-stricken villages nationwide since 2018 in a bid to eradicate absolute poverty by 2020.
Local governments across China have intensified efforts to select, train and dispatch cadres to impoverished villages to help with poverty alleviation since last year, Xia Gengsheng, deputy director of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, said at a training session held in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Monday.
All villages below the national poverty line across China now have such village-based poverty relief cadres, Xia said, adding that they will focus on training cadres working in deeply impoverished villages this year and make more use of new media in training courses.
Officials and poverty relief cadres from 28 Chinese provincial-level regions attended the training session in Chongqing.
