CHENGDU, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Authorities in southwest China's Sichuan Province, known as the home of pandas, have published Chinese and English pictorial annals of the giant bear.
The Giant Panda Pictorial Annals, set to debut on the 26th Beijing International Book Fair which will open Wednesday, include over 500 pictures and paintings of the animal and over 250,000 characters in six chapters.
The book is compiled by the office of Sichuan local chronicles and local forestry and grassland bureau. It features historical materials, panda photographs, and panda paintings from artists and children.
More language versions of the pictorial annals will be published following the bilingual version, according to the publisher.
Sichuan province is a major habitat for giant pandas, with the number of wild pandas and captive pandas accounting for 74.4 percent and 85.5 percent of the total in China.
