BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Experts from around the world called for cybersecurity cooperation at the Beijing Cyber Security Conference (BCS 2019) which kicked off on Wednesday.

With the development of new technologies like artificial intelligence, the security issue has evolved from internet security to cybersecurity, said Qi Xiangdong, chief executive officer and chairman of Qi An Xin Group, a Chinese cybersecurity company and sponsor of the conference.

People want to ensure safe data and a stable internet connection in the age of internet security while in the age of cybersecurity, the whole cyberspace is connected more closely to the real world, and data, users, infrastructure and production facilities could be targets of cyberattacks, said Qi.

Zhu Juwang, director of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, said there are more transnational crimes in cybersecurity attacks today and every country has interests and responsibilities.

The UN hopes countries take a panoramic view to prevent and combat cybersecurity crimes.

Virginia Greiman, senior advisor from the Center for Strategic Cyberspace and International Studies London, said international cooperation and information sharing are of great importance to build an ecosystem to protect cybersecurity.

She noted that it demands the participation of every stakeholder and very close partnerships between governments and enterprises.

The three-day BCS 2019, with the theme "Security: built-in DNA" drew together more than 400 cybersecurity experts from 30 countries and regions around the world. More than 10 forums, summits, exhibitions and cybersecurity talent contests will be held during the conference.
