ADEN, Yemen, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's House of Representatives on Wednesday called on President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to "use his constitutional authority to review relations with the Saudi Arabia-led military coalition."
The call comes after the Yemeni government accused the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of supporting the separatist forces of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) that seized the port city of Aden and neighboring Abyan Province.
According to a statement released by state-run Saba news agency, the parliament also "warned against any deviation of the Saudi-led coalition from its main objectives."
The Aden-based STC previously said its forces rapidly advanced on the ground and declared full control over the neighboring province of Abyan.
The STC was a part of the Saudi-led Arab coalition to fight Iran-backed Houthi militias in northern Yemen in a war that has rekindled old strains between north and south Yemen which were separate countries until 1990.
The impoverished Arab country has been locked in a civil war since late 2014, when the Houthis overran much of the country and seized all northern provinces including the capital Sanaa.
