CAIRO, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- League of Arab States (LAS) said on Thursday that the Second Health Cooperation Forum of China and Arab States is an opportunity for fruitful dialogue between the two sides on health policies and the pharmaceutical industry.
Jointly held by the National Health Commission of China and the LAS from Aug. 16 to 18 in Beijing, around 180 people attended the forum, including representatives, envoys of 21 LAS member countries and delegates from international organizations.
The forum is aimed to build a platform for experience and policy exchanges of health cooperation and further promote cooperation between China and Arab states.
In a statement, LAS Assistant Secretary General and head of LAS Social Affairs, Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, said the forum and the accompanying medical industries exhibition are another opportunity to build in-depth and fruitful dialogues between Arab countries and China on important topics such as health policies, investment in the fields of pharmaceutical industry, traditional medicine and public health, training of human cadres, managing hospitals, manufacturing vaccines and other challenges of mutual interest.
The LAS official, who attended the forum, expressed the aspiration of the LAS General Secretariat to develop common horizons between Arab countries and China in order to open more areas of cooperation between the two sides and exchange experiences.
Abu Ghazaleh noted that the LAS is looking forward to reaching more tangible achievements through the implementation of what has been agreed upon in the work plans and joint statements of the previous meetings.
An initiative titled "China-Arab States Health Cooperation 2019 Beijing Initiative," was launched at the forum with the goal of deepening health cooperation between China and Arab states.
