BAGHDAD, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Two paramilitary Hashd Shaabi members were killed and two of their vehicles destroyed in an airstrike on Sunday in the western Iraqi province of Anbar.
An online statement by the Hashd Shaabi said two unknown drones pounded a position of the Hashd Shaabi's 45th brigade in an area near the town of al-Qaim close to the border with Syria.
The airstrike also wounded a paramilitary fighter, the statement added.
Meanwhile, Ahmed al-Dulaimi, mayor of al-Qaim, told Xinhua that the two Hashd Shaabi vehicles were bombed near Akkaz gas field in the south of al-Qaim in the western province of Anbar.
On Wednesday, Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, deputy commander of the Hashd Shaabi, accused in a statement the United States of being behind the recent attacks on Hashd Shaabi's bases in Iraq.
Al-Mohandes made his comments after a series of explosions at Hashd Shaabi's arms depots in Iraq, most recent of which occurred at its ammunition and weapons depots in the central province of Salahudin.
Last week, one person was killed and 29 others wounded when a huge explosion hit an ammunition depot at the Falcon military base in southern Baghdad, where Hashd Shaabi members are stationed alongside Iraq's federal police units.
