NAIROBI, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe remain in contention to win the Victoria Cup international rugby tournament.

On Saturday, Kenya secured a 31-16 win over Zambia to boost their chances of winning the regional trophy.

Kenya's Simbas will now turn their focus to Zimbabwe, looking to avenge the 30-29 defeat they suffered in Harare. Coach Paul Odera says they have the capacity to turn the tide against the Zimbabwean Sables and win the tournament.

"The tournament is turning out just fine with the win over Zambia. We have now to prove that we are closer to the top and earn ourselves a ticket to the World Cup soon," said the coach on Sunday in Nairobi.

The Victoria Cup is a fresh idea that keeps the four countries busy after the cancellation of the Rugby Africa Gold Cup this year.

Kenya's win on Saturday means the Simbas complete a double over Zambia, having taken down the same opponents 43-23 in Kitwe, Zambia in late July.
