VIENNA, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Europe's largest motorcycle manufacturer, Austria's KTM Industries AG has increased its motorcycles sold in the first half of 2019 along with both revenues and profits, it stated on Monday.

The Mattighofen-based company said its motorcycle sales increased 7 percent year-over-year in the first six months to reach 135,711, once again putting it in the lead among European manufacturers.

Its total revenues rose 4.2 percent to 754.9 million euros (838 million U.S. dollars), while earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased 1.4 percent to 46.6 million euros.

It further stated that it saw a 5.2 percent increase in the registrations of its motorcycles in the important 120cc and above market, outperforming the overall market average of 2.7 percent.

It said registrations of its motorcycles in Europe increased by 6.6 percent, giving it a market share of 11.4 percent, while registrations in the difficult U.S. market were up 5.2 percent, giving it a 9.0 percent market share.

The company, that has brands including KTM and Husqvarna under its umbrella, also announced plans to rename itself to "Pierer Mobility AG" in autumn, choosing a name that marks a diversification from its core "KTM" brand, and reflecting its majority shareholder.
