KIEV, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's newly-elected parliament held the first official meeting here, Interfax Ukraine news agency reported on Thursday.
The first meeting opened on Thursday in the presence of incumbent President Volodymyr Zelensky and former Presidents Leonid Kravchuk, Leonid Kuchma, Viktor Yushchenko and Petro Poroshenko.
Foreign officials including European Parliament Vice-President Klara Dobrev, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly President George Tsereteli and Israeli Knesset deputy speaker Israel Eichler also attended the meeting.
Andriy Parubiy, the speaker of the parliament of the 8th convocation, announced a moment of silence in honor of the heroes who died for the independence of Ukraine before an oath was taken by the deputies of the 9th convocation elected during the snap parliamentary elections held in Ukraine on July 21, 2019.
