ASUNCION, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Defending champions River Plate set up a tantalizing Copa Libertadores semifinal clash with Argentinian rivals Boca Juniors by completing a 3-1 aggregate win over Paraguay's Cerro Porteno.
Nelson Valdez opened the scoring for the hosts with a diving eighth-minute header after Joaquim Larrivey's cross from the right. However, River equalized on the night when Nicolas de la Cruz thumped in a long-range shot after Matias Suarez's attempt was blocked by goalkeeper Juan Carrizo.
The 1-1 draw followed River's 2-0 victory in last week's first leg in Buenos Aires.
The Boca-River semifinal - to be played over two legs on October 10 and 22 - will be a repeat of last year's final, which River won 5-3 on aggregate.
