NAIROBI, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Benin, Nigeria and Tunisia lead the eight-nation Africa Group III Davis Cup tournament, which will be held in Nairobi from Sept. 11-14.
The West African countries seek to firm their grip on the group eyeing promotion to Euro/Africa Group II.
Benin non-playing captain Bruno Danhouan has named four players to carry his country's flag in the four-day tournament to be played on clay court in Nairobi.
They are led by Alexis Klegou, Sylvestre Monnou, Arnaud Sewanou and Delmas N'tcha. The teams are expected in Nairobi from Sept. 9.
Kenya and Namibia had toppled Benin and Nigeria off the top order in the tournament held in February and were looking forward to join the Group II, but their celebration was cut short when the International Tennis Federation (ITF) changed the rules following the arrival of new sponsors BNP Paribas.
Kenya's coach Rosemary Owino has since expressed confidence the host country will fight their way back to Group II.
"I have faith in the boys that they can deliver. We have the advantage of playing on home soil," Owino said on Thursday. "We have prepared well for the championship to give our players a chance to be in top form ahead of the championship," said Owino.
