WINDHOEK, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- The head coach of the Namibian men's senior rugby side, Phil Davies, said that a lot is still required from his players ahead of the Rugby World Cup that starts this month.
The Rugby World Cup will be staged in Japan.
Namibia is in Pool B alongside reigning world champions New Zealand, former champions South Africa, Italy and Canada.
Speaking in an interview with Xinhua on Sunday, following Namibia's 28-22 win over South Africa's franchise club Southern Kings in the warm-up match here on Saturday, Davies said that his side still needs to improve in some areas if they are to have a good campaign.
Namibia start its campaign against Italy on September 22, before they await South Africa on September 28.
"It is just a warm-up match in which we got a good result. If we want to beat stronger oppositions, we would need to improve more in the defence and attacking. The boys have been tremendous good and you can see that they want to win. It is not going to be easy for us as we are in a difficult group against top opponents such as New Zealand, South Africa and Italy," said Davies.
Namibia's match against New Zealand is scheduled for October 6, before they finish off with their group match against Canada on October 13.
