MOGADISHU, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Army said it killed an al-Shabab militant in an airstrike in southern Somalia on Tuesday.
The airstrike was carried out in collaboration with the Somali government in the vicinity of Jilib, a militants stronghold, the U.S. Africa Command (Africom) said in a statement.
"These strikes certainly disrupt the network and remove terrorists from causing further harm," Africom director of operations William Gayler said in the statement.
No civilians were injured or killed as a result of the airstrike, the statement said.
