FOSHAN, China, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Angola national basketball head coach William Voigt has praised the facilities at the Foshan International Sports and Cultural Center.

Ahead of his side's 84-81 victory over the Philippines in Group D of the FIBA World Cup, Voigt talked up the newly-built venue, drawing on his previous experience of coaching in the Chinese Basketball Association league.

"The arena is great," Voigt told Xinhua. "I spent two years in the CBA, so I've been to most arenas in China. I think it's one of the nicest ones I've ever seen."

"Obviously the crowds have been good here, especially when you consider that China is playing in Beijing right now. Everything has been really nice," he added.

Despite victory over the Philippines, Angola was already condemned not to qualify for the World Cup second round, having lost both previous games against Serbia and Italy.

"It's good to get a win. Obviously it's got a little ugly down the stretch, but I'm glad that we were able to pull it out," admitted Voigt, adding that his side was keeping a close eye on the one remaining Group D match.

"We have to see obviously what happens between Tunisia and Puerto Rico. That's a big factor when we think about whether we can directly qualify for the 2020 Olympics.

"But if not, we will still try to qualify for the OQT (Olympic Qualifying Tournament), so we still have a lot to play for in the next two games," Voigt noted. Enditem
