WINDHOEK, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Namibia's national rugby team is in buoyant mood as it heads to Japan for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, despite being comprised of semi-professional players who have to balance rugby with day jobs, coach Phil Davies told Xinhua on Wednesday.
"We have had a consistent process of preparation and competition over the past four years. The main focuses during that time have been to establish a clear playing philosophy, along with developing a younger squad of players," he said.
Davies added that his team has no injury scares at the moment and that everyone is raring to go, with a recent tour to South Africa providing him with ample time to study his team and prepare for the World Cup, where they aim to record their first victory at the tournament.
"All the players are in good condition. We have been working very intensely to ensure our players are ready to play at a tier 1 test match level. We are currently very happy with the level the players have achieved and will continue to work right up to our departure on September 12," he said.
The upbeat Namibia coach added that he was inspired by his players' commitment and passion to represent their country at every given opportunity.
