OTTAWA, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Canada's unemployment rate was registered at 5.7 percent in August, remaining unchanged month on month, Statistics Canada said on Friday.

During the month, the country added 81,100 jobs as more people entered the labor force in search of work, with 57,200 of the new positions being part-time and 42,000 of them held by young workers aged 15-24.

Year-over-year average hourly wage growth for all employees slowed to 3.7 percent in August, decelerating from July's 4.5 percent.

It added that August's employment increased by 471,000, or 2.5 percent from a year ago, driven by both full-time and part-time employment.

Earlier this week, the central bank predicted economic activity of Canada to slow in the second half of 2019.
