KABUL, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Afghan Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has created a road project management system to help monitor quality of materials in road construction process as well as to prevent law violations in building the roads, a local online news agency Wadsam reported Monday.
"The new system would enable the ministry to jointly undertake the monitoring and gradual implementation of quality road construction projects with the public in the future," the online business news portal reported on its website.
The system will also help ensure timely implementation of projects, according to the report.
However, the report said that security remained as a major hurdle for implementing road projects in some regions.
More than 10,000 km of roads have been reconstructed across Afghanistan since the Taliban regime's collapse in 2001, but most of them were damaged due to poor quality materials.
