YANGON, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- A youth training program, assisted by China, was launched in Myanmar's western Rakhine State on Monday.
Jointly organized by China's Yunnan provincial government and the China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC) Consortium, the program was introduced to about 90 trainees in Kyaukphyu town.
The training program aims to provide practical experiences for local trainees to apply them in respective working fields as well as to promote regional development, said Chief Minister U Nyi Pu of Rakhine state.
The program covers basic electrical course and basic English language course and mainly targets to provide trainings to youths with financial needs.
Executive President Yuan Shaobin of CITIC Myanmar said it was the fourth charity program established by the CITIC Consortium in Myanmar and the program was fully supported by the Myanmar government and local people as the development of local youths through this program could lead to the development of Kyaukphyu town.
Zar Pwint Phyu, a trainee, told Xinhua that it was grateful to witness China's assistance to Myanmar local youths and she was pleased to join the program.
