BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese animated film "The Legend of Hei" stayed on top of the Chinese mainland box office on Monday, the third day after its opening, the China Movie Data Information Network said Tuesday.
"The Legend of Hei" is a feature-length film based on a web cartoon series titled "The Legend of Luo Xiaohei" which tells the story of a supernatural black cat and the human family it lives with.
The film raked in 11.93 million yuan (about 1.68 million U.S. dollars), accounting for around 32.7 percent of the daily total.
Coming in second was "Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw," which grossed 9.41 million yuan on Monday.
Chinese animated film "Ne Zha" ranked third by raking in 5.50 million yuan on its 46th day of screening.
