TIRANA, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Albania's national football team won 4-2 against Iceland in the sixth round of Euro 2020 qualifiers in Elbasan Arena stadium on Tuesday.
The match started with an action of the hosts when forward Rey Manaj had an effort for goal in the 3rd minute.
In the 32nd minute, Albanian midfielder Ledian Memushaj hit a short corner and it was Kastriot Dermarku who scored the first goal for Albania.
The first half was dominated by the hosts, ending with Albania leading 1-0.
At the beginning of the second half, Iceland found the equalizer by midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson in the 47th minute.
In the 52nd minute, defender Elseid Hysaj gave the lead to the hosts after receiving a fantastic assist from Manaj, beating the Icelandic goalkeeper with a left foot shot and scoring the second goal for Albania.
Icelandic forward Kolbeinn Sigthorsson tied the score at 2-2 in the 58th minute.
In the 62nd minute, Odise Roshi came in the field to replace Ermir Lenjani for the hosts and this move of the Italian coach Edoardo Reja changed everything for the match.
Initially, the midfielder Roshi scored the third goal for Albania in the 79th minute through a strong right-footed shot that was deflected by the Icelandic defender and ended in the net.
Four minutes later in the 83rd minute, Roshi took an individual action, crossed the ball to Memushaj, whose cross in the area was used best by forward Sokol Cikalleshi to score the fourth goal for Albania.
With a 4-2 victory against Iceland, Albania rank fourth in Group H with nine points. Turkey and France lead the group with 15 points, whereas Iceland are third with 12 points.
