TIRANA, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- In the second quarter (Q2) of 2019, the unemployment rate in Albania decreased by 0.9 percent year-on-year, the "Labor Force Survey" published by the national Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) showed on Wednesday.
According to INSTAT, the jobless rate was 11.5 percent of people aged 15 and over in Q2 2019.
Compared to the first quarter (Q1) of this year, the rate decreased by 0.6 percent.
In Q2 2019, the indicator stood at 11.6 percent for men and 11.4 percent for women, a year-on-year decrease of 1.3 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively.
INSTAT said that in Q2 2019, the youth unemployment rate was 20.9 percent, down 1.7 percent year-on-year and 1.3 percent on Q1.
Among people aged between 30 and 64, the rate was 8.8 percent, down 0.8 percent year-on year and 0.3 percent on Q1.
The employment rate in Q2, according to INSTAT, was 61.4 percent, up 3.4 percent year-on-year.
Compared to Q1, the employment rate in Q2 increased by 2.1 percent. This rate was 68.4 percent for men and 54.6 percent for women, up 2.1 percent and 2.4 percent, respectively, year-on-year.
