WINDHOEK, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Namibia Premier League (NPL) Board of Governors (BoG) has resolved that the NPL Executive Committee (EXCO) engage in dialogue with the FIFA Normalization Committee and resolve the deadlock around promotion and relegation.

NPL spokesperson, Andre Gariseb in a statement issued Thursday said the meeting, which took place Sept. 11, resolved that the EXCO needs to implore a new collective agreement regarding promotion and relegation in the league, the first and second divisions for the 2019/2020 season.

According to Gariseb, the BoG wants the resolutions to be reached for submission to NPL Congress slated for Sept. 21.

"Anyone with a sincere interest in football is equally aware and understand that any holdup to kick-start the league will have a negative impact on the livelihood of players, coaching staff and sponsors," the BoG said.

Subsequently, it will have serious repercussions on the performance and competitiveness of the national team, they added.

"Therefore, the NPL is petitioning for the league to kick-off early as possible without any further delay," the board concluded.
