YOKOHAMA, Japan, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Russia had an easy 3-0 victory over Cameroon at the FIVB Women's Volleyball World Cup here on Saturday.
Irina Voronkova and Irina Koroleva scored 13 points apiece to fire Russia past the African champion 25-14, 25-15, 25-10.
"We have a very big respect for African volleyball and Cameroon is the champion of Africa. We had prepared very well before this match and I want a very big concentration from the team, the same like playing the Olympic final. For this reason, I am very happy with the result today," said head coach of Russia Sergio Busato.
Russia will meet host nation Japan on Sunday. Speaking of this familiar opponent, captain Evgeniya Starseva believes the team need to focus on improving its own performance.
"I know Japan very well from a long time ago. It is a very good team, so we need to inspire ourselves to play good volleyball. I think tomorrow's match depends on ourselves. If we play well, it would be a good match," the 30-year-old said.
Cameroon will play defending champion China on Sunday.
