YANGON, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will host the International Rubber Conference-2019 in Nay Pyi Taw for the first time at the end of this month, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Tuesday.
Jointly organized by the ministry and the Myanmar Rubber Planters and Producers Association (MRPPA), the conference will take place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 1.
The conference is aimed at serving as a platform for sharing international work experience related to rubber cultivation and production, especially the growing method and seed germination for plantation from participating countries.
The two parties will also conduct research paper reading to show their findings.
MRPPA became a member of the International Rubber Research and Development Board (IRRDB) in 2017.
According to the statistics, Myanmar mainly exports rubber to China, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, India and Japan.
The country's rubber is primarily grown in Mon and Kayin states and Tanintharyi, Bago and Yangon regions.
There are over 1.6 million acres (660,100 hectares) of rubber plantations in Myanmar with Mon state accounting for about 500,000 acres.
The country exported 192,980 tons of rubber worth of 247.56 million U.S. dollars in the first 11 months (2018 October to 2019 August), exceeding the targeted 170,000 tons.
