YOGYAKARTA, Indonesia, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- China has make it a sure bet to win the mixed doubles title as its paddlers swept their rivals in the semifinals at the Asian table tennis championships here on Thursday.
Xu Xin and Liu Shiwen rallied from two games down to beat Lee Sang-su and Jeon Ji-hee of South Korea 4-11, 7-11, 12-10, 11-6, 11-6 in the first semifinal, before Wang Chuqin paired with Sun Yingsha, overcame Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem of Hong Kong, China, 11-7, 11-6, 11-13, 13-11 in the other semi.
Xu/Liu faced uphill in the opening semifinal as they lost the first two games but managed to turn over the tide by taking the following three games.
In the other semifinal, Wang and Sun took the first two games, lost the tight third but recovered quickly to seal the match by taking the fourth game.
"We played well in the opening games, but lost the third after we managed for a 10-all tie. It was quite a pity," said Sun. "Today, my partner and I adapted into the match very quick as we have prepared for it quite well," Sun said.
The all-Chinese mixed doubles final is scheduled on Saturday.
Earlier, China has won both men's and women's team titles on Wednesday and Tuesday.
