TIRANA, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- A moderate earthquake measuring 5.8 on Richter scale hit Albania on Saturday, with the epicenter in the Adriatic Sea, the Albanian Institute of Geosciences, Energy, Water and Environment (IGEWE) reported.
The IGEWE said the earthquake took place at 4:04 p.m. local time with its epicenter located 30 km north of the port city of Durres.
The earthquake was felt strongly in many Albanian cities including capital Tirana. Several aftershocks followed.
Local media reported some damages in apartments and buildings in Tirana and Durres. No information on any injury was immediately available.
Citizens in Tirana came out of their homes and work place shocked by the strong feeling of the earthquake.
An aftershock measuring 5.3 on Richter scale hit the country a few minutes after the first one, said IGEWE. Enditem
