JERUSALEM, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli hi-tech company Electreon Wireless reported Sunday that it has installed a full system of electric road and successfully completed road charging of Renault Zoe electric vehicle while driving.

The system developed by Electreon was placed under a 20-meter asphalt layer on the company's test road, in the coastal settlement of Beit Yanai.

As part of the test, the company demonstrated an energy transfer of 8.5 kilowatts (KW) with efficiency of more than 91 percent and expected to reach delivery of over 15 KW within weeks.

The wireless charging is made as the deeply installed coil infrastructure distances the radiation source from the road surface.

The system's coils that were installed in the last experiment are in final configuration as obtained from the French company Hutchinson's production line.

According to Electreon, this test is a key milestone for the system's expected installation in Sweden in November 2019, to test the technology in the winter conditions of northern Europe.

Meeting such weather is a precondition for a pre-commercial pilot tender expected to be released in Sweden within a few months.

The new charging method allows the use of smaller and cheaper batteries and is expected to save high costs of installing charging spots throughout the cities and transferring power lines.

Electreon, along with its partners, has also begun the process of installing receivers it has developed on two Chinese Higer electric buses and on a Swiss E-Force electric truck for a live demo in Sweden by early 2020.
