Kosice win four games in a row to lead Slovak hockey league

BRATISLAVA, September 22 (Xinhua) -- Kosice won their fourth straight game in Slovak premier hockey league Tipsport Liga, defeating Zvolen 4-2 in the fifth round on Sunday to move up to the first place.

The Canadian-born left-winger Kyle Bonis scored both goals of Zvolen, but the team from the central region of Slovakia were forced to watch their two-game winning streak get snapped.

Slovan Bratislava moves down a couple of places in the table after losing to last year's champions Banska Bystrica 3-1. The visitors scored two early goals that proved to be decisive.

Michalovce, this season's newcomers from the Eastern region of Slovakia, continued their dream start, winning their fourth match out of five, beating Detva 4-0 in the away game. Jakub Linet scored twice for Michalovce. Detva remain on the bottom of the rankings without a single point earned, losing their fifth straight match.

Poprad showed no mercy over Nitra, crushing the visitors 5-0 and scoring their first goal only 27 seconds into the game. Samuel Takacs became another two-goal scorer of the round.

Nove Zamky were leading twice against Trencin but the guests managed to erase the deficit both times and turn the table in the second period to gain an important 4-2 victory.

The Hungarian-based team of Miskolc move up to the third place in the rankings after dominating 3-0 over Liptovsky Mikulas which gives them three for three on home ice.
