Myanmar, India vow to cooperate in border security, drug control

YANGON, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar and India have vowed to cooperate in border security and drug control, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday.

At their 24th meeting of officials of the two countries at the regional level held in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday, the two sides also had discussions on border management and detained persons from the two countries as well as drafting of a memorandum of understanding on wildlife trade and anti-human trafficking and capacity raising matters.

The 24th meeting was represented by Director-General of the Office of the Ministry of Home Affairs U Khaing Tun Oo from the Myanmar side, while Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Shri Satyendra Garg represented the Indian side.

The regional level meetings of border officials of the two countries have been held alternatively in Myanmar and India since 1994.
