JAKARTA, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said on Tuesday that the nation has accomplished 54.9 percent of annual revenue targeted at 2,165.1 trillion rupiah (about 160.4 billion U.S. dollars) as of August this year, slowing down from 60.8 percent in the same period last year.
She said total revenue received by the nation stood at 1,189.3 trillion rupiah (about 84.2 billion dollars) until August this year with most of them was from tax at 920.2 trillion rupiah (about 65.2 billion dollars).
"If we see it from the pace rate, we have a revenue slowdown," she said in tax office here.
The slowing revenue accomplishment rate has indicated lowering tax contribution from taxpayers, she said, adding that it also suggested the taxpayers are facing difficulties in their businesses.
"We should pay more attention in this developing situation. We have to be more careful in the second semester this year as many sectors could not escape, from global downturns," she said.
On the other hand, the minister said that government's spending has reached 1,388.3 trillion rupiah (about 98.3 billion dollars) as of August this year, higher than the received revenue in the same period.
It leads to a deficit of 199.1 trillion rupiah, or 1.24 percent to the nation's Gross Domestic Products (GDP), she said, adding that the deficit was higher than 1.02 percent in the same period last year.
Indonesian aims to expand tax contribution up to 1,861.8 trillion rupiah (about 131.9 billion dollars) to state revenue targeted at 2,333.2 trillion rupiah (about 165.3 billion dollars) next year. The tax expansion figure was higher than 1,643.1 trillion rupiah (about 116.4 billion dollars) this year.
