PARIS, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Monaco earned their first win of the season by beating Nice 3-1 at home, while Marseille were held to a goalless draw at bottom side Dijon in Tuesday's French Ligue 1 seventh round action.
Aleksandr Golovin opened the scoring for the 2017 champions through a corner kick in the 29th minute. The Russian midfielder collected a return pass from Cesc Fabregas before rifling it into the top corner of the net.
Nice equalized nine minutes into the second half, when Patrick Burner smashed his maiden league goal after Adam Ounas' cross was headed by Islam Slimani.
However, Monaco displayed their resolution to bag the first full points of the season. Slimani teed up Golovin to finish past Nice goalkeeper Walter Benitez in the 74th minute.
Golovin turned the provider six minutes later, as he intercepted the ball from Nice player before feeding Wissam Ben Yedder for his fourth league goal of the campaign.
Monaco climb to 17th, while fourth-ranked Nice have to swallow their third defeat of the season.
With the Dijon draw, Marseille drop points for the second time in four days. Dijon, still winless in seven attempts, are restrained to the bottom of the table.
Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, sitting atop the standings with three-point advantage, will host Reims on Wednesday.
