NAY PYI TAW, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Information and Public Relations Department under Myanmar's Information Ministry and Daw Khin Kyi foundation, a charity group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation for community centers and libraries on Wednesday.
Under the MoU, 17 mobile library vehicles, 346 sets of computer and related equipment, over 110,000 books and 28 expertly trained staff will be handed over, said State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, chairperson of the foundation, adding that so far, the foundation has invested over 1 billion kyats (666,667 U.S. dollars) in the community centers and libraries project.
Aung San Suu Kyi also urged people to effectively use mobile libraries and community centers for the betterment of society and future generations.
Information Minister U Pe Myint thanked Daw Khin Kyi foundation for handing over the equipment and staff to the ministry with trust and pledged to exert efforts for continued operation of the community center as before.
Established in 2012, Daw Khin Kyi foundation is a charity named after the late mother of Aung San Suu Kyi.
