HONG KONG, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- The latest on violent unauthorized demonstration and rioting in Hong Kong: (all times local)

6:30 p.m., Sept. 29

Riot police fired tear gas and marched toward mobs of rioters along the main roads in the areas of Admiralty and Wan Chai.

Rioters threw petrol bombs toward police officers before scattering. Officers of the elite Special Tactical Contingent rushed to arrest escaping rioters.

Rioters committed extensive vandalism and arson in the business hub of Hong Kong along the major roads of Queensway and Hennessy.

They sabotaged facilities of the Wan Chai metro station and set fires near Admiralty metro Station.

After repeated warnings to the radicals went futile, the police have deployed tear gas and used appropriate force to disperse them.

Rioters clashed with the police, hurling bricks and petrol bombs at officers.
