BANGKOK, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Thailand has launched more campaigns to spur domestic consumption by way of tourism among Thai people from now until the end of this year.

Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said the cabinet on Tuesday approved a couple more campaigns run by the Tourism Authority of Thailand for which a combined sum of 116 million baht (about 3.78 million U.S. dollars) in funding will be provided online to stimulate domestic consumption through tourism-related businesses nationwide from now until the end of this year.

One campaign, entitled "Tourism Throughout Thailand For One Hundred Baht," is being provided for the Thai people who may register for it and visit tourist spots nationwide and pay only 100 baht (about 3.26 U.S. dollars) for a package of tourism-related activities including flying a designated airline, staying at a designated hotel or resort and using service at a designated spa or entertainment venue.

The government is providing 63.5 million baht (about 2.07 million U.S. dollars) in financial support for some 40,000 packages under the campaign.

The other campaign, entitled "World-Shocking Prices on Weekdays," is being provided for the registered Thai people to fly first class on designated airlines, check in at designated luxury hotels or resorts or shop for high-end merchandise at designated luxury stores or use services at designated hospitals or spas or dine at designated cuisines.

Nevertheless, such tourism-related activities are only provided under the campaign on weekdays from now until the end of this year.

The government is providing 52.5 million baht (about 1.71 million U.S. dollars) in financial support for the campaign.

The government's latest campaigns have closely followed a similar one, primarily designed to spur domestic consumption and entitled "Taste, Shop and Use for Free."

A total of 10 million Thai people, who may register for it, are granted 1,000 baht (about 32.6 U.S. dollars) each to buy merchandise at designated stores or eat food at designated restaurants or use service at designated spas in the provinces which are not the same as those notified in their ID card or home census paper.

The grant money, provided via mobile application of the state-owned Krung Thai Bank, cannot be withdrawn in cash.
