BEIJING, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Liu Shiyu, former deputy Party chief of the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (ACFSMC), has been punished for serious violations of Party discipline and laws, the top anti-graft body announced Friday.
Liu, also director of the ACFSMC's council, was placed on probation within the Party for two years and removed from his administrative post, according to a statement issued by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission.
As a member of the 19th CPC Central Committee, Liu deviated from the Party's original aspiration and mission and failed to implement major decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, the statement said.
An investigation found that Liu made improper public remarks, abused his power to seek benefits for others, and accepted gifts and money, the statement said.
Liu severely violated the Party's disciplinary standards on politics, organization, clean governance, and work, the statement said.
It also noted that considering Liu surrendered himself and honestly confessed his misconducts, he could be treated with leniency.
